The Stylish Life Loves Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie

Hello Lovely Ones! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I have been thinking about fragrances a lot lately. Some people have signature scents and wear the same scent every single day, year after year. I can’t commit to a signature fragrance. There are so many amazing scents out there and I like a variety of blends. Sometimes I like a crisp, clean scent, other times I gravitate towards florals, musks, or tropical and fruity perfumes. My scent preferences are all over the place.

I rarely wear the same fragrance more than two to three days in a row. The top of my dresser is completely covered with perfume bottles and their accompanying lotion or body cream so that I can layer my scent.

                   

Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie has been one fragrance in heavy rotation since I purchased it earlier this year. I tried a little sample of the Shea Souffle on the back of my hand and while I was trying on shoes I kept smelling the amazingly warm scent of Almond Cookie. I was hooked. I went back to the Carol’s Daughter section within Macy’s and purchased the spray and souffle. When I purchased the set the weather was still cold and I thought Almond Cookie was more suitable for chilly temperatures. To my delight I have found that it is a great year round scent. The scent is warm and inviting but not at all heavy. There is an air of sensuality to Almond Cookie and nothing about it says a fresh baked batch of cookies. This is a scent that will surely get a guy’s attention ;)

The notes in Almond Cookie are almond, marzipan, sandalwood and vanilla. The perfume is heavily concentrated and will last all day and well into the night. A Life of Style: Halle by Halle Berry

Halle Berry has always seemed like she would be the cool, stylish friend everyone has. I've been wearing her new signature fragrance, Halle, and I'm very happy with the latest celebrity scent.

The fragrance notes according to the website are:

Head: Sicilian Bergamot, Fig leaves, Pear blossom

Heart: Freesia petals, Hibiscus flower, Ultra mimosa

Base: Sandalwood, Driftwood, Cashmere Musk, Olibanium Absolute, Sensual Amber

There's a lot going on in the bottle but it all blends together perfectly. Halle is a great fragrance. It smells like nothing else on the market right now. Miss Berry created a truly one of a kind fragrance. It's light yet musky and very feminine. I'm always a little leary of musk fragrances in the spring/summer, but there are no worries here. In my opinion, Halle is a year round scent.

A Life of Style: Close, Gap's New Fragrance

Yesterday I went to scour the sales racks and take advantage of the additional 25% off at Gap.

There were samples of Close, the new signature fragrance for women throughout the store and the cashier tossed several in my bag. I had really high hopes for Close and couldn't wait to test it.

Close has the following notes:
Top: sparkling watery nuances, salty citrus cocktail accord, and fresh almond blossom.
Middle: spring freesia, jasmine petals, daphne, and heliotrope.
Dry: creamy sandalwood, musk, vanilla nuances, and a touch of amber.

And it is described as a citrus-floral aroma, that balances watery notes against a hint of musk. The result, a perfectly blended scent that's light and wearable.

So, I spritzed Close on today. I sniffed. It was an extremely light scent. If the essence of ethereal could be bottled then Close would be the perfect fit. It's such a delicate fragrance.

The dry down was barely noticeable. I asked my friend what he thought of Close. I extended my wrist. He told me he didn't smell anything. He smelled my neck also and asked if I was sure I put anything on. I sniffed my wrist and could barely smell anything. I'm all for a clean and fresh scent but when the promised dry down is sandalwood, musk, vanilla, and a bit of amber, I expect a little more as those are all significant scents that can be easily detected.

I prefer a scent that has a little kick to it. Close was just okay for me. I don't love it, I don't hate it, but it's just not me.

A Life of Style: Smell Pretty

I'm a major fragrance addict. The top of my dresser is filled with a wide assortment of perfumes and the matching lotions or body creams. I layer my scent for the full scentual experience, lol!

Ralph Lauren Romance has been my favorite fragrance since it debuted in 1999. As much as I love the smell goods, I've never declared a signature scent. I have too many favorites to be loyal to just one fragrance but I think I may have found the one...for now. Ralph Lauren Romance Always Yours is all that. It's sexy, vibrant, sensual, and pretty all at once.

According to the ad, Ralph Lauren Romance Always Yours is the essence of eternal romance. The fragrance has notes of the iconic sun goddess rose, sensual musk, freesia, ginger, lotus flower, day lily, white violet, patchouli, and oakmoss. After spritzing it on while at Nordstrom (my second home) last week, I had to own it. I've been wearing my new love for the past five days and I smell fabulous if I do say so myself.

If you're looking for a new scent, stop by Sephora, Nordstrom, or Bloomingdales and give Ralph Lauren Romance Always Yours a whiff.

A Life of Style Fragrance Review: Intimately Beckham for Her

Intimately Beckham for Her has been on my fragrance list for a while. I adore Victoria Beckham, she's one of my style icons. As fabulous as her style is, I knew her perfume would not disappoint.

This is a very sexy scent with great dry down that lasts. I hate fragrances that fade after a few hours. Quite a few guys have told me that I smell good when I'm wearing IBFH and that's always nice to hear ;)

Intimately Beckham for Her has notes of white flowers, bergamot, rose petals, Casablanca lily, tuberose, orange blossom, vanilla, sandalwood and musk. I'm going to get the lotion soon so that I can really layer the scent. I purchased a 1.7 oz IBFH at Target for $34.99. There's a two piece gift set sold on Target's website for $29.99

If you're on the fence about trying IBFH, Walgreens has a sampler vial for .99, ask the beauty consultant if you don't see the small display. I got one for a fragrance shy friend, unfortunately she's got terrible allergies so her and IBFH were not a match made in smell pretty heaven :(
