Sparkly New Year's Eve Nails!

Try this sparkly trend for the new year. I'm here to share the lacquers I love now.
4 Perfect-for-New-Year's-Eve Glittery Nail Polishes
This is a TotalBeauty.com nails article

I recently waxed poetic about the possibility of wearing glittery eyeliner or eyeshadow for the holidays, which I totally did, BTW.

And, I'll admit, it looked quite smashing, not nearly as tween-y as expected. But now it's time for glittery nails, here's how I'm getting them …

Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color {Belle Of The Ball}

During a recent CVS visit, I spotted a new nail polish display, Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color. The polishes were $1.99 and there were a wide range of colors. I picked Belle of the Ball, a creamy lavender, and a dark inky blue shade that I can’t remember the name of and I’m too tired to get up and look at the bottle (It’s a lazy Sunday for real on this side of the computer screen.)

belle_of_the_ball_maniFor my last manicure, I gave Confetti an opportunity to live up to it’s long wearing claim.

Well I must say this polish did not disappoint. It lasted a full eight days and there were only small chips on the index finger of my right hand and little chips on both thumbs but you'd have to be holding my hand and looking very closely in order to see them *jaw drop*

The above picture is day four of my manicure.

Still looking pretty fresh after four days. I’ll definitely be trying more Confetti nail colors.

My Natural Nails & I

cg strong adhesion base coat seche vite top coaat nailtiques formula 2  BB_CUTICLE-CREAM sally-hansen-maximum-growth

Years ago I wore acrylic tips, acrylic overlays, and silk wraps over my natural nails. I really did not need those nail enhancements but back then airbrushed designs, rhinestones, and other designs were all the rage. Looking back I am more than a little embarrassed at my slightly around the way girl nails sans the bad attitude, extensions, and Fendi bag. I’ll chalk it up to youth and thank God there are no pictures of my unsightly bedazzled all to hell talons.

Now I’m a much more classy and refined woman who would never go there again. Spa manicures and pedicures are my favorite inexpensive pick me ups. My friends are always amazed at how I’m able to make my mani/pedis last longer than the typical one to two weeks.

Well to begin with I don’t do my own nails. My hands aren’t that steady and the end result would look crazy so to the nail salon I go. I always bring my own polish because I have seen some nail technicians thin their polish with acetone remover. Shady. I just feel better bringing my own. I also bring my China Glaze Self Adhesion Base Coat which grips the polish once its applied and last but not least my Seche Vite top coat. Most nail salons use Seche Vite or OPI’s top coat. I prefer Seche Vite though. My favorite polish brands are Essie, OPI, and Zoya. Using these products can make my pedicures last two weeks and a few days and my manis last up to ten days, which comes in handy when funds are low.

In between manis and pedis I apply Nailtiques Protein Formula 2 and a coat of Sally Hansen Natural Tint clear polish. To keep my cuticles moisturized I use Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream or Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle & Nail Pen, but Viamin E oil works just as well too.

So there you have it, my natural nail tips. If you use any of the products mentioned let me know. How do you care for & wear your nails?

Hump Day Mani: China Glaze For Audrey

I found China Glaze For Audrey by accident earlier this year at Sally's Beauty Supply.

It's the perfect shade of Tiffany Blue and I love it.

It looks great against brown skin too ;)

For Audrey...Breakfast  At Tiffany's...Audrey Hepburn.

If you can find For Audrey, I suggest you get a couple of bottles; this was a limited edition and it's very hard to find now.

Sinful Colors Saturday Mani

Saturday's manicure: Sinful Colors in Daddy's Girl. In the bottle you see a dark sparkly purple however the color on my nails was not as dark as I had hoped for.
Sinful Colors nail polish is only $1.99 at Walgreens. This was my first time trying the nail polish and I have to be honest, the formula is very thin. Day two of this manicure and the color is already fading from the tips of my nails. Even the nail tech commented on the quality, saying it was very watery . Sinful Colors is definitely no competition for OPI, Essie, or Zoya. It took three coats to achieve the a color somewhat close to the bottle.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for and Sinful Colors nail polish gives you exactly $1.99 worth of quality.

**The product featured in this post was purchased with my own money.**

A Life of Style: Revlon Touch of Mauve Mani

Today's n.o.t.d. is brought to you by Revlon Touch of Mauve, lol.
I decided on a lighter polish for this week's manicure because the weather in Chicago today was a sunny, 46 degrees. Besides the weather, I've been wearing dark polishes for over a month and wanted to switch it up a little. Before my manicure, I had to soak my nails at home for thirty minutes in a mixture of non-acetone remover and peroxide to get rid of all traces of the Jumpin' Jade.
This color looks more dusty pink and from what I know of mauve this isn't anywhere near it. Oh well, maybe Revlon got a little confused, lol.
Next week's mani: OPI You Don't Know Jacques

A Life of Style: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Jumpin' Jade Christmas Eve Mani

It's Christmas Eve ya'll!!!! Are you guys excited? Baking cookies? Doing anything festive tonight??? Let's talk manicures.

I was uber excited when I happened upon the latest collection of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes at Walgreens last week. I grabbed two bottles of Jumpin' Jade (one for me and one for my blogging buddy, Jamie)

The color is GORGEOUS!!!! The polish dried in an instant which was a plus because the nail salon was crowded and sometimes I have no patience to wait for my nails to dry. My nails are going to be a hit at tomorrow's Christmas gathering. I have a really cute cocktail ring to rock too ;)

These polishes aren't on Sally Hansen's website yet. I should've taken a picture while I was at the store :(

It annoys me to no end when products are in the stores but not on their company's website. What's that all about???

Merry Christmas!!!!!

A Life of Style: Revlon Steel Her Heart Mani

This is my first foray into the N.O.T.D. I got a manicure today and I brought along my newest polish, Revlon's Steel Her Heart, a pretty metallic gunmetal gray. I really like this color. It's a great neutral and it matched the shirt I had on earlier. My nails are getting long again so I need to have them trimmed a little next week.
Please excuse the second picture, my hand was a little shaky =)
