Drugstore Gem: Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash

It's that time of the year when we have to start switching out certain skincare products. What worked during the summer may not cut it as the temperatures drop. About eight years ago I used Basis Cleaner Clean Face Wash and I loved it.

The only reason I can think that I stopped using it is because I am such a product junkie that I moved on to something else.

I was in CVS a couple of weeks ago looking for a new cleanser after my facial and decided that since I loved Basis back in the day, I would still love it now.

The clean fresh scent of mint, lemongrass, and chamomile still do the trick. The formula has not changed at all. This is the perfect daytime cleanser for normal to oilier skin types and it's wallet friendly!

Drugstore Gems: Lumene Time Freeze Firming Day Cream {Lumene Luvah}

Today’s drugstore gem is by one of my favorite brands, Lumene. I have never had a bad experience with any Lumene products.

For the past three weeks, I have used Time Freeze Firming Day Cream as an eye cream. I wasn’t too happy with the eye cream I was previously using and as soon as I used the last of it, I went in search of a better one. While I was at CVS, I decided to see what other options there were before I went to  high end brands like Lancome, Estee Lauder, or Chanel. Budget first!

Lumene Time Freeze Instant Cooling Eye Stick was $21.99 and in my opinion the stick was too small for the price. I don’t have dark circles, wrinkles, or puffiness eye issues yet, but I am in my 30’s and I want to keep the skin around my eyes tight. I decided to try the Firming Day Cream. CVS carries the 0.5 oz travel size for $3.99, which is what I purchased.

I apply the cream morning and night. I use it under my eyes and all around the lids. Three weeks of continuous use, has made the skin around my eyes much firmer and smoother. I love it! I highly suggest giving it a try if you want to start taking good care of the delicate skin around your eyes.

Summertime Smooth

Hot sunshine and summer like temps have arrived in Chicago and the time has come to get our skin nice and smooth to the touch. Sally Hansen’s Spray-On Shower-Off foam is my new favorite hair removal product. I use it on my arms. Yes, I have hairy arms and I’m sure I’m not the only woman in the world with this problem. Am I???? C'mon! Where my she-wolves at?

Just spray the foam onto your arms or gams, let it sit for a few minutes and spray off. Ta-da! Smooth and totally hair free arms and legs. Score!!

I follow up with Aveeno Positively Smooth Moisturizing Lotion. This lotion claims to help you shave less often. Stay tuned. A full review is coming soon.

My Favorite Hand Cream

When it comes to quality hand creams, L'Occitane Lavender Hand Cream is one of my staple products. I use it all year round. I keep a cheap .99 hand cream in my bag for those moments when friends ask if I have some lotion (can't wait for the feedback on that little confession, lol). L'Occitane costs too much to share all will-nilly!

The blend of shea butter, vitamin E, and lavender works wonders on dry hands especially during the winter. What I love most is how quickly it soaks into the skin and doesn't leave my hands greasy. A couple of small drops go a long way. If you purchase the largers sized tube, be sure to pick up the key so you can get every last bit of product from the tube. The key is $8 but maybe you'll luck up on a nice sales associate like I did who tossed it in my bag with a wink ;)
